Integrating with Secure Shell (SSH)

You can integrate BMC Release Package and Deployment (RPD) with Secure Shell (SSH) to dispatch the  RPD processes through the SSH client target servers. With this integration, you can perform your deployments by using the RPD interface or through SSH. Thus, you can perform your deployments on remote target servers by using your existing SSH clients. You can use the set of default actions available for this integration to trigger your deployment tasks. For more information, see SSH action pack.

Note

This integration is currently available on experimental support.

Environment requirements

To successfully integrate with SSH and perform your deployments, ensure that your system meets the following requirements:

  • RPD dispatcher is running on a Linux system with SSH installed.
  • You have the SSH clients installed on the systems that you will be deploying to (your target servers).
  • The ssh and scp commands are available in the PATH system environment variable on a dispatcher server.
  • You enabled the passwordless SSH login to a target, which already exists in the known_hosts file.

Optional Properties

To change the use of SSH during the deployment, you can set the following optional property:

PropertyDescription
VL_USERUser for the SSH/SCP login operation, which allows you to log in to SSH without password.
Note: User owning the dispatch service is the default user.

Configuration of target server

For a server in RPD, select SSH as the Agent, and provide the apropriate Server hostname or Internet Protocol (IP) address for the Dispatcher Server.
