Setting up the connection to dispatcher agent infrastructure

The dispatcher is an architectural component in BMC Release Package and Deployment (RPD) that supports integration with NSH, SSH, Puppet, and Chef agent types. You can use RPD in any IT operations managed environment that uses agents.

You can set up dispatcher actions to connect to existing agent infrastructures. When you create and deploy a dispatcher instance, the engine diverts the flow to the dispatcher. To process the work that was previously handled by the agents, the dispatcher uses one of the following action script types:

Dispatcher action script type

Description

dispatch_fileget

Retrieves package reference information

dispatch_fileput

Pushes files during a deployment (Send*Content)

dispatch_srun

Runs activity libraries and actions

dispatch_prun

Handles analyzers

The RPD dispatcher supports an integration with the following types of agents:

Furthermore, by using the powerful dispatcher action type scripts, you can connect to the API of your existing agent clients.
