Getting started

This page provides you instructions to get started with the PATROL for IBM MQ Series KM.

Note

The KM is referred to as BMC Performance Manager for WebSphere Business Integration in TrueSight console.


  1. Download the KM from download link Open link .
  2. Deploy KM package to the server that is running MQ (the KM does not support remote monitoring anymore).
  3. On the MQ server, set the environment variable BMCMQMINSTALLATIONPATH to the latest version of MQ installed on your computer (for multi-installation environment).
    Use the same user userrc.sh file so that the PATROL Agent can use the value.
  4. Restart the PATROL Agent.
  5. In the TrueSight console, go to Configuration>Infrastructure Policies and click the Create Policy button.

  6. On the Create Monitoring Policy screen, enter Policy Name, Description, Agent Selection Criteria, and Precedence.
  7. Click the Add Monitoring Configuration button.

  8. Select the following options and click OK:
    • Monitoring Solution: BMC Performance Manager for WebSphere Business Integration
    • Version: 4.8.00.02
    • Monitor Profile: MMA_BASE
    • Monitor Type: ALL
  9. Select the following options and click OK:


    • Monitoring Solution: BMC Performance Manager for WebSphere Business Integration
    • Version: 4.8.00.02
    • Monitor Profile: AMQ_BASE
    • Monitor Type: AMQ_Series
  10. Enter the MQ host information: Host Type (NT Local, Solaris Local, AIX Local, Linux Local), ICON Label (Logical name to give to this MQ system), Listener Queue Prefix (Prefix to be used for all the listener queues created by the KM).
  11. Enter the following information - Publish Queue Name (Name to be used for the Publish Queue used by the MQ km),  If Host Is Unavailable (Severity to be given if the MQ system is not available: IGNORE, WARN, ALARM), Auto-Start Integrated Event Listener (Check if you wish to autostart the event listener used to collect MQ events), Enable Monitoring By Default (Select to enable/disable monitoring of the MQ System).
    Note:The rest of the fields in the configuration are for remote Mainveiw MQ monitoring, which has been discontinued.

  12. Click the OK button to close the Monitoring Configuration screen.
  13. Click the OK and Close button to close the Add Monitoring Configuration screen.

  14. Click the Enable Policy button and the Save button to save the MQ monitoring policy.
