This documentation space contains information about PATROL Agents when deployed in a BMC Helix Operations Management environment. If you are a TrueSight Operations Management user, see PATROL Agent 21.02. Open link

Access for PEM applications

If the access control list does not include PEM access (P), the agent will deny access to all applications that communicate with the PATROL Agent through the PEM API including the following applications:

  • PATROL Adapter for Microsoft Office
  • PATROL QuickView
  • PATROL Integration products

Building the PATROL Event Manager application

If you want to build the PATROL Event Manager application by using the Microsoft Visual Studio 2005, you must use the latest .lib files, which are present in the <PATROL_HOME>/pemapi folder.

Redirecting PEM application debug log messages

You can now redirect the PEM API and PATROL Agent interface debug messages to a file. To create a PEM debug log file to trace the PEM and PATROL Agent communication, you can use the PemnEnableDebug function in the PEM Client Application. Then set the value of the BMC_PATROL_DEBUG_PEMAPI environment variable on the computer where the PEM application is running with the desired debug switch and file name.

The following files are compiled with Microsoft Visual Studio 2005:
