Starting and stopping the PATROL Agent

This topic explains the tasks for properly starting and stopping the PATROL Agent on supported platforms.

BMC Best practice for PATROL Agents running on Microsoft Windows operating system

BMC recommends the following for PATROL Agents running on the Microsoft Windows operating system:

  • By default, a PATROL Agent service is started with the Local System Account. If you want to change this account association, you can either associate the PATROL Agent service to the PATROL default account or associate it with any local user account. If you associate the PATROL Agent service to any local user account, ensure that the user account has all the advanced rights that are required for a PATROL Agent service. For more information, see Advanced rights.
  • Ensure that you use the same account to start and stop a PATROL Agent service.
