Tuning and configuration


This section describes the tuning and configuration details of the BMC ProactiveNet components.

Tuning BMC PATROL Agent

The following pconfig variables must be applied on the BMC PATROL Agent:

  • Set the value of /AgentSetup/AgentTuning/runqSchedPolicy to 2.
  • Set the value of /AgentSetup/AgentTuning/pslInstructionMax to 0
  • Add VSM.kml to /AgentSetup/preloadedKMs
  • Set the value of /AgentSetup/integration/useFQDNHostName to yes.
  • Set the value of /AgentSetup/BindToAddress to IP address of the computer that has BMC PATROL Agent installed (to be used when the server hosts more than one IP address)
  • Set the value of /AgentSetup/loadOnlyPreloadedKMs to yes.
  • Set the value of /AgentSetup/fixHistFlag to dirtybit.
  • For a large VMware vCenter Server, history retention period must be greater than or equal to 3 and lesser than or equal to 5.

Note

 After applying the above tuning variables, restart the BMC PATROL Agent.
