Configuring Solaris in the TrueSight or Central Monitoring Administration console


 We can classify the Solaris KM monitoring capabilities into the following categories:


Local Monitoring

PATROL for Solaris enables you to locally monitor the Solaris operating system using minimum configuration. By default, all the monitor types are enabled. Based on your requirement, you can enable or disable the same.

To configure your Solaris OS for local monitoring, select the following preferences:

Monitoring Solution: Solaris

Version: 1.0.00

Monitor Profile: Solaris Monitoring

Monitor Type: Solaris Local OS

Remote Monitoring

PATROL for Solaris lets you monitor your Solaris operating system remotely. It monitors the availability and performance of your servers. 

To configure your Solaris OS for remote monitoring, select the following preferences:

Monitoring Solution: Solaris

Version: 1.0.00

Monitor Profile: Solaris Monitoring

Monitor Type: Solaris Infrastructure

The KM also enables you to remotely monitor your Solaris hosts from a PATROL Agent running on Microsoft Windows or Linux operating system. To configure Solaris remote monitoring, see Configuring remote monitoring of Solaris OS.

Oracle VM Manager Monitoring

PATROL for Solaris enables you to monitor the Oracle Virtual Machine Manager (OVMM). It collects performance statistics of the Repositories, Oracle VM Servers, and VMs. You can create filters to include or exclude Oracle VM Servers, VMs, and Templates from monitoring. 

To configure your Solaris OS for Oracle VM Manager monitoring, select the following preferences:

Monitoring Solution: Solaris

Version: 1.0.00

Monitor Profile: Oracle VM Manager

Monitor Type: Oracle VM Managers
