Configuring SAP HANA monitor type


This topic describes how to configure SAP HANA database.

With SAP HANA as the selected monitor type, the Add Monitor Types dialog box enables you to configure details for connecting to the SAP HANA system.

Field

Description

Name

Enter a unique, user-defined alias name, host name or IP address of the SAP HANA system.

If you have provided an alias name, then you must configure the device IP address or host name by providing the IP address or host name in the Host name/IP field.

Host name/IP

Enter the system name or IP address of the system.

You can leave this field blank if you have provided the actual host name or IP address in the Host name/IP field.

Instance number

Enter an instance number for the SAP HANA system.

An instance number is a two-digit identifier that is unique on a host. Use a comma separator to configure more than one SAP HANA system instances.

Poll interval (sec)

Enter the collection frequency in seconds. The default value is 300 seconds.

The maximum value you can select is 3600 seconds. The minimum value is 10 seconds.

Timeout (sec)

Enter the timeout in seconds for JDBC queries. The default value is 30 seconds.

The maximum value you can select is 300 seconds. The minimum value is 1 second.

Availability only

Enable this option to monitor only the status of SAP HANA.

Disable this option if you want to monitor both the status and statistics of SAP HANA.

Disable monitoring

Enable this option for disabling the SAP HANA monitoring.

Credentials

User Name

Enter the user name authorized to log in to the SAP HANA system.

Password

Enter the password for the specified user.

Confirm Password

Re-enter the password for confirmation.

Custom SQL query configuration

SQL name

Enter the SQL query name.

Instance number

Enter the instance number of the SAP HANA system instance on which you want to configure the SQL query. Use a comma separator to specify more that one instance number.

SQL query

Enter the SQL query.

Example

To configure SQL query to monitor the number of records in the M_VOLUME_FILES table, Provide the following details:

  1. Enter the SQL name as VolumeFiles.
  2. Set the Instance number value to 00,01—This will execute the SQL query on SAP HANA instance 00 and 01.
  3. Set the SQL query to SELECT count(*) FROM "SYS"."M_VOLUME_FILES".

Administration

Device mapping

Enable this option to consolidate the configured SAP HANA systems at the device level. By default, this option is enabled.

Logging

Select this option to enable logging. The log files are created at:
(Windows): %PATROL_HOME%\shm\logs
(UNIX): $PATROL_HOME/shm/logs

By default, this option is disabled.

Java home path

Enter the Java Home directory.

Example;

  • (UNIX): /usr/local/java6
  • (WINDOWS)C:\Program Files\Java\jre6

The environment variable, Java home or PATROL Agent JRE will be used by leaving this field empty
