This topic provides information about enabling the Oracle Extended Tablespaces Monitoring (ETSM) debugging by using Central Monitoring Administration.

FieldDescription
Oracle Global ETSM Options
Oracle ETSM History Option

Oracle ETSM History

Select the check box to turn on the history.

When turned ON, the ETSM application class collects historic data for all global tablespaces.

When turned OFF, the ETSM application class collects data for only those tablespaces for which threshold specified at the ETSM container level is reached, this setting will affect all-instances that are monitored.

Oracle ETSM Tablespaces Size Option

ETSM tablespace large size (in MB)

Specify the size in MB.

ETSM tablespace very large size (in MB)

Specify the size in MB.

Oracle ETSM Tablespaces Exclusion

Inactive Tablespace List

Specify the tablespace name to be added to the inactive list.

RegEx Filter

Specify the expression to filter out the tablespace from monitoring.

Filter tablespace by type

Inactive tablespace list ( separated with only commas) type to be used for exclusion.

Oracle ETSM long running query blocking mechanism

In some of the cases you may observe the Ignore disk parameters stay offline (grayed-out) except for Oracle ETSM Temp monitor type while other parameters are collecting data:

This kind of behavior is observed when the KM identifies a query taking long time to execute or getting a delayed response time at the Oracle database instance.

This activates the blocking mechanism and the <pconfig /ORACLE_ETSM.ORACLE_SID.blockETSMQuery> variable is set to 1.

You can control the blocking mechanism of Oracle ETSM long running queries by increasing the execution threshold using <pconfig /ORACLE_ETSM.ORACLE_SID.ETSMQueryExecutionThreshold> and set <pconfig /ORACLE_ETSM.ORACLE_SID.blockETSMQuery> back to 0.

Note

  • The filter policy takes precedence from top to bottom.
  • If ETSM application class needs a specific rule hint, use the pconfig variable /OracleConfig.ORACLE_SID.ETSMRuleHint. For more information, see the pconfig etsmrulehint variable.
