Backup and recovery reports

The following reports give information about the backup status and recovery settings of the instance:

  • Archiving State
  • Backup Status
  • Log History
  • Media Recovery
  • Redo Log Files

Viewing backup status information

The Backup Status report provides the backup status of all datafiles in the instance.

  1. Choose Reports > Backup and Recovery > Backup Status from the INSTANCE menu.
  2. Select a datafile or select ALL DATAFILES, and click Accept.

The following table shows the information that the report provides.



Backup Status report

Enabled

mode that is enabled for the datafile

Status

type of file (system or user) and its status:

  • OFFLINE
  • ONLINE
  • SYSTEM
  • RECOVER
  • SYSOFF (an offline file from the SYSTEM tablespace)

Last Checkpoint SCN

SCN at last checkpoint

Start Time

timestamp of the datafile creation

File

datafile path and file name


Viewing the archiving state of the instance

The Archiving State report shows the archiving status of the database and the database files.

Choose Reports > Backup and Recovery > Archiving State from the INSTANCE menu.

The following table shows the information that the report provides.



Archiving State report description

Item

Description

Database log mode

log mode of the database:

  • ARCHIVELOG
  • NOARCHIVELOG

Automatic archival

whether the automatic archival option is set to TRUE or FALSE

Archive destination

directory the archive should be saved to


Viewing recovery information

Use the following reports to view information necessary for successful recovery of a database.

Viewing log History information

Choose Reports > Backup and Recovery > Log History from the INSTANCE menu.

The name of the archived log file for every log in the database is listed in a text window.

Viewing media recovery information

Choose Reports > Backup and Recovery > Media Recovery from the INSTANCE menu.

The following table shows the information that the report provides.

name of the archive

time the archive log was last written to


Viewing redo log file information

The Redo Log Files report shows the status and size of the redo logs.

Choose Reports > Backup and Recovery > Redo Log Files from the INSTANCE menu.

The following table shows the information that the report provides.
