9.7.10.02: Patch 2 for BMC PATROL for Oracle Database

The PATROL for Oracle database 9.7.10.02 patch corrects issues reported in earlier versions of PATROL for Oracle Database. This patch also includes corrections of all the problems that were addressed in version 9.7.10.01. For more information about the issues, see Known and corrected issues. 

This topic provides instructions for downloading and installing this patch:

To download the installation files

Select and download the installation files for your platform; see the following table. Use your BMC Support credentials to access the EPD website. You might also be prompted to complete the Export Compliance Form.

Installing the patch 

Before you begin

You must install the patch on the following computers:

• Hosts that are running the PATROL Agent
• Hosts that are running the PATROL Console

Before you install the patch, complete the following steps:

1. Stop the PATROL Agent.
2. Back up the PATROL_CACHE directory.
3. Delete all PATROL for Oracle Database files from the PATROL_CACHE directory.
4. Back up the PATROL_HOME/lib/knowledge and PATROL_HOME/lib/psl directories.

To install the PATROL for Oracle Database 9.7.10.02 patch

1. Extract the installation utility:

   • For Windows, double-click ins_WINDOWS_10700.zip.
   • For UNIX, run the following command
     tar -xvf ins_ALL_10700.tar
     The contents of the files are extracted into the bmc_products subdirectory.
2. Extract the patch files:
   • For Windows, double-click POK_ALL_971002.zip
   • For UNIX,  run the following command
     tar -xvf POK_ALL_971002.tar
     The contents of the files are extracted into the bmc_products subdirectory. 

3. From the bmc_products directory, run the installation utility as appropriate for your operating system:

   • For Windows, double-click setup.exe.

   • For UNIX, run setup.sh

4. Follow the on-screen instructions until the Select Products and Components to Install page is displayed. 

5. On the Select Products and Components to Install page, select PATROL Knowledge Module for Oracle Patch (9.7.10.02)

6. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

   After you complete the installation steps, you can delete the temporary directory and its contents.
