Configuring perfmons

This topic provides instructions to configure a perfmons in a Microsoft SQL Server environment.

To configure perfmons

  1. From the PATROL Console work area, right-click MSSQL node (MSSQL_SERVER_MAIN application class)
  2. Access the KM menu commands as described in Accessing KM Menu Commands.
  3. Choose the Configure perfmons KM menu command to display the Select server of hosthostName in environment envName dialog box.
  4. In the Select server of hosthostName in environment envName dialog box
    1. Select a regular expression from the regular expressions defined in the MS SQL server instance configuration for hostName in env envName dialog boxto apply thetime based parameters configuration.

      Select the regular expressions from the drop-down list box and click Next.Selected MS SQL servers appear highlighted.

  5. To continue with the configuration and to select the monitoring level for perfmons configuration details, click Next. 
  6. In the Performs configuration for servers of host hostName in environment envName dialog box
    1. Perfmon monitoring level Select a level for monitoring the perfmons,
      • None - Disables the monitoring of all perfmon objects
      • Most Important - (Recommended) Monitors all important perfomon objects
      • Full - Enables the monitoring of all perfmon objects
      • Custom - Choose manually the perfmon objects to monitor
    2. If you select, Most important or Custom monitoring level, click Next to continue with the configuration. Select the perfmons to Include or Exclude from monitoring.
      1. Filtering ModeSpecify the filtering type for filtering the perfmon objects.
        • Include - Will include only the perfmon objects selected from the perfmons list for filtering
        • Exclude - Will exclude the perfmon objects selected from the perfmons list for filtering
      2. Click Accept to save the configuration details.
      3. Click Cancel to exit without saving the configuration details.
