Monitor types and attributes
An application class is a logical grouping of individual applications, while an application group is a logical grouping of application instances. Within PATROL, you use application classes to define the attributes of all instances within an application class (global settings), or the attributes of a single application instance that has been customized (local settings).
BMC PATROL for Azure has monitor types that are segregated based on their components.
Application classes group together various categories of data in BMC PATROL Knowledge Modules (KMs) and provide functionality in the form of parameters, menu commands, and InfoBoxes. This version of PATROL for Microsoft Azure includes the following application classes:
Monitored object | Monitor Types | Description |
---|---|---|
Top-level containers and configuration | Used to set up and configure the PATROL for Microsoft Azure product. | |
Virtual Machine |
| Monitors availability of the Virtual Machines. Provides information about memory, disk, process, remote calls, and network usage of the virtual machines. |
Storage Account | Monitors availability of the Storage Account. Provides information about billable requests, total egress and ingress utilized by the Azure storage blob, storage queue, and storage table. | |
App Services | Monitors the performance and availability of app service, app service environment, and app service plan. | |
Microsoft SQL Server and Database | Monitors availability of the SQL Server. Provides information about CPU utilization, database size percentage, number of deadlocks, database throughput unit limit of the SQL database. | |
Virtual Machine Scale Sets |
| Monitors availability of the Virtual Machine Scale Sets. Provides information about CPU, Memory, Disk, Process, and Network usage. |
Key Vaults | Monitors the performance and availability of vault clusters. Provides information about total service API hits and results, monitoring status, and so on. | |
Logic Apps | Monitors the performance and availability of logic apps. Provides information about action latency, billable action executions, failed runs, completed runs, and so on. | |
Cosmos Database | Monitors the performance and availability of cosmos databases. Provides information about service availability, index usage, service availability, and so on. | |
Bus | Monitors the performance and availability of Azure Bus. Provides information about queues, topics and subscriptions, and rules or actions. | |
PostgreSQL | Monitors the performance and availability of Azure PostgreSQL service. Provides information about performance and availability of databases. | |
Kubernetes | Monitors the performance and availability of Azure Kubernetes service. Provides information about containers. |
