Monitoring scripts, named pipes, or binary files
PATROL for Log Management enables you to monitor scripts, named pipes, and binary files along with the text and XML files.
The output of these files is processed as for the text files. You can configure these files in the same way as a text instance. While configuring a script, named pipe, or binary file, you need to specify the appropriate file path in the File/Pipe Name (applicable for 2.7.30 and earlier) or File (applicable for 2.7.40 and later) text box and select the appropriate File Type option in the Add File for Label: instanceName dialog box. For more information, see Add-File-for-Label-instanceName-dialog-box and Monitoring-a-text-instance.
Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
