Verifying your BMC PATROL for Internet Servers configuration

This task describes how to verify that your BMC PATROL for Internet Servers configuration is functioning properly.

Before you begin

You must have

  • Installed and configured the BMC PATROL for Internet Servers console components on one computer.
  • Installed and configured the PATROL A gent components on one computer.
  • launched the PATROL Operator Console and loaded the ISM_NT.kml or ISM_UNIX.kml files and any optional kml files: if you want to monitor access and error logs, the ISM_LOGMON_BASIC.kml file.

To verify Your BMC PATROL for Internet Servers installation

  1. At the BMC PATROL Operator Console, expand the icon for the server where you installed the BMC PATROL for Internet Servers components.
  2. Expand the Internet Services instance and verify that the appropriate instances for server types, such as Web, FTP, and mail servers, are displayed under the INET_Servers instance (see the following figure for examples of these instances).
  3. If you experience any problems with BMC PATROL for Internet Servers, complete steps 4, 5, and 6.

  4. Expand the domain icon and verify that the appropriate server application instances are displayed.
  5.   Ensure you have the following permissions to client libraries, binaries and readers:
    • Windows: Full Control security permissions for NTFS file systems, which are the default settings at installation.
    • Unix: File Permissions set to 755, for example, -rwxr-xr-x.
