Monitoring Windows process Activation Service (WAS) servers

Some content is unavailable due to permissions.

Windows process Activation Service (WAS) manages application pool configuration and manages worker processes for HTTP and other protocols. This is supported for Internet Information Services (IIS) version 7 or later. To enable monitoring, verify the following:

  • Verify that a PATROL Agent is installed on the same server as the IIS.
  • Verify that BMC PATROL for Microsoft Windows Servers has been installed and loaded on the PATROL Agent.

The discovery is performed automatically, and after a complete discovery cycle all discovered WAS processes are displayed under Global PerfMon Counter > Microsoft IIS.

You can monitor the following parameters:

  • Status: if the service is up or down
  • Threads: Number of active threads
  • Memory: Amount of memory in use
  • CPUUtilization: CPU Utilization

For more details, see INET_WAS Application Class.
