Monitoring virtual host statistics

BMC PATROL for Internet Servers monitors the following server status parameters:

    • totalTraffic
    • totalAccess
    • connections
    • httpReqPerSec
    • kbytesPerSec
    • kbytesPerReq
    • upTime
    • CPUUtilization

      In addition to monitoring the server status, you can enable monitoring of individual virtual host statistics and total virtual host parameters under each server. For more information about the virtual host parameters, see INET_Web_Server_VHost and INET_Web_Server_VHost_Container.

      Note

      You can enable monitoring of virtual hosts for any Web server you add, but data would be collected and reported only for Apache based Web servers.



      BMC PATROL for Internet Servers supports versions 2.2.x and 2.4.x of Apache Web Servers for virtual host monitoring.

      Note

      The server status module of the Apache based Web server that you want to monitor must be enabled and should be accessible by PATROL Agent.

To monitor virtual hosts

  1. Access the server instance menu commands.
  2. Select the Enable Apache Virtual Host Statistics > Enable Virtual Host Statistics.
  3. To enable virtual host statistics, select the check box.
  4. Click Ok.

The server status data is monitored and reported for each Apache based Web server that you have added and also the total server status of all the virtual hosts you have added to be monitored.

Inactive virtual hosts will be removed from the list of monitored virtual hosts, after a period of 60 minutes. The default time set for the inactive virtuaol host to be removed is 60 minutes, you can modify the time by modifying the /Inetsetup/INET_Web_Server/hostname/destroy_tim e configuration variable.
