This feature allows you to track essential performance counters that are relevant to your environment and business. Use these metrics in combination with BMC PATROL for Internet Servers performance and availability monitoring to view a complete picture of how key internal server performance metrics impact actual server performance.

Adding and removing performance counters

When you monitor local Microsoft servers you can collect additional performance data beyond what is already reported under the KM's Global Perfmon Counters container.

Install BMC PATROL for Microsoft Windows Servers on your PATROL Agent and load the NT_PERFMON.kml and NT_Perfmon_Wizard.kml.

To add or remove additional counters for your Microsoft servers

  1. Access one of the INET_MS application classes (INET_MS_ASP, INET_MS_Ftp, INET_MS_Iis, INET_MS_ISA, INET_MS_Index, INET_MS_Locator, INET_MS_News, INET_MS_Web).
  2. Select KM Commands > Add or Remove Performance Counters.
The Add/Remove MS Performance Counters dialog box appears.
  3. Select the individual counters (parameters) that you want to monitor for the selected INET_MS application class. To remove parameters deselect those parameters.
  4. Click Accept.

    Note

Additional dynamic parameters are collected from Windows perfmon.
