Configuring port monitoring
With Port Monitoring as the selected monitor type, the Add Monitor Types dialog box enables you to configure details for monitoring ports.
Field | Description |

Monitor Name | Enter a name of the instance. |
Host | Enter the computer name or IP address. |
Port | Enter the port number of the host you want to monitor. |
Username | Enter the username that is used to connect to the host |
Password | Enter a valid password. |
Timeout | Enter the time in number of seconds until the session timeout. The default timeout is 30 seconds. |
Monitor Type | Select TCP/IP, Telnet, or SSH. |
Disable monitoring | Select this check box to disable port monitoring. |
Content Check Criteria | These fields are optional. |
On-Screen Configuration | Select one of the following operations and enter the required expressions. You can enter 10 expressions.

File-Based Configuration | If you have to enter more than 10 expressions, define the expressions in a file and enter the path to the file in this field. |
SSH Commands Configuration | Enter the SSH Commands. Use semicolon (;) to separate multiple SSH commands. |
Single line content expression | Enter single line content expression in this field for single line expression. |
Multi line content expression file | Enter the full path to a file containing multiple line content expressions. |
Case sensitive match | Enable to check for case sensitive matches. |
Evaluate UNIX-style expressions | Select to include Unix-style regular expressions in the content specified in Single line content expression or multi line content expression file. |
Content check operation | Select to raise an alarm when the content matches or does not match. |
- To add the port to the list, click Add to List button.
- To save the changes made to the port already added, click Modify Selection button.
- To remove the selected port from monitoring, click Remove from List, button.
After adding all relevant hosts, click the Close button. Then click the Save button in the Add Policy dialog box.
