9.0.30.001: Patch 1

Updated Network Security Services (NSS) version to 3.29.5

PATROL for Internet Server utilizes the Mozilla Firefox Network Security Services (NSS) libraries for secure communication (HTTPS). To support the monitoring of secure web pages using latest protocols and ciphers, the Mozilla NSS libraries has been updated to version 3.29.5. This change does not affect the monitoring of open, none secure web pages (HTTP).

Added support for AIX 7.2

PATROL for Internet Server now supports AIX 7.2 operating system. This support has been introduced in version 9.0.30.001, and is not available in earlier versions of the KM.

Deprecated feature

Dropped support for Microsoft Windows and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 32-bit platforms

Support for Microsoft Windows x86 (32-bit) and Red Hat Enterprise Linux x86 (32-bit) has been discontinued since version 9.0.30.001 of PATROL for Internet Server. 

To download the installation files

Select and download the installation files for your platform; see the following table. Use your BMC Support credentials to access the EPD website. You might also be prompted to complete the Export Compliance Form.

Installing the patch

Note

The PATROL for Internet Server 9.0.30.00.01 patch contains all of the files that are required for a complete product release. You can install the product as a fresh installation.

Before you begin

You must install the patch on the following computers:

  • Hosts that are running the PATROL Agent
  • Hosts that are running the PATROL Console

Before you install the patch, complete the following steps:

  1. Stop the PATROL Agent.
  2. Back up the PATROL_CACHE directory.
  3. Delete all PATROL for Internet Server files from the PATROL_CACHE directory.
  4. Back up the PATROL_HOME/lib/knowledge and PATROL_HOME/lib/psl directories.

To install the PATROL for Internet Server 9.0.30.001 patch

  1. Extract the installation utility:

    • For Windows, double-click ins_WINDOWS_10700.zip.
    • For UNIX, run the following command
      tar -xvf ins_ALL_10700.tar
      The contents of the files are extracted into the bmc_products sub-directory.
  2. Extract the patch files:
    • For Windows, double-click pki_ALL_9030001.zip
    • For UNIX,  run the following command
      tar -xvf pki_ALL_9030001.tar
      The contents of the files are extracted into the bmc_products sub-directory. 
  3. From the bmc_products directory, run the installation utility as appropriate for your operating system:

    • For Windows, double-click setup.exe.

    • For UNIX, run setup.sh
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions until the Select Products and Components to Install page is displayed. 

  5. On the Select Products and Components to Install page, select PATROL Knowledge Module for Internet Server Patch (9.0.30.001)

  6. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

    After you complete the installation steps, you can delete the temporary directory and its contents.
