Configuring Hardware Management Console

Configuration details
On the Monitor Configuration page, click Add
to add a new monitor configuration, or select an existing monitor configuration and click Edit to update it.Before configuring the Hardware Management Console, verify that the requirements listed in the prerequisites section are met.
On the Add Monitor Types dialog, with the Monitoring Profile set to HMC, and the Monitor Type set to Hardware Management Console, provide the following details:

HMC Configuration | |
HMC Host Name | Specify the HMC name to monitor remotely. |
SSH Port Number | Specify the SSH port number of the HMC to be monitored. The default port number is 22. |
User Name | Specify the username. |
Authentication | Select the authentication type:

Password Based Authentication | |
Password | If you have selected password-based authentication type, specify the password for authentication. |
Key Based Authentication | |
Public Key File Path | Specify the entire path of the public key file. For example: (UNIX) /home/patrol/id_rsa.pub (Windows) C:\patrol\id_rsa.pub Note: For Windows, path must not contain space character. BMC recommends to use C:\patrol\keys directory to store key files. In case your directory has space character use short path instead complete path. For example: C:\PROGRA~1\ instead of C:\Program Files. |
Private Key File Path | Specify the entire path of the private key file. For example: (UNIX) /home/patrol/id_rsa (Windows) C:\patrol\id_rsa Note: For Windows, path must not contain space character. BMC recommends to use C:\patrol\keys directory to store key files. In case your directory has space character use short path instead complete path. For example: C:\PROGRA~1\ instead of C:\Program Files. |
Passphrase | Specify the passphrase to access the public and private key. |
Advanced VIOS Monitoring Configuration | |
Monitor Host Bus Adapter (NPIV) | Select this checkbox to enable monitoring of Host Bus Adapter (NPIV). |
Monitor Shared Ethernet Adapters | Select this checkbox to enable monitoring of Shared Ethernet Adapters. |
Managed System Filtering | |
Managed Systems to Filter | Enter a comma separated list of names of the managed systems that you want to include or exclude from monitoring. Input may also be a regular expression pattern. By default all the managed systems are included for monitoring. For example: Managedsystem1,Managedsystem2 Note: If the managed system is filtered, the managed system will not appear below the HMC hierarchy. If the Managed system is already discovered, it will be removed from the hierarchy. |
Filter Type | Select Include or Exclude to include or exclude the managed systems. |
LPAR Monitoring Details | |
Monitoring Profile | Select the type of monitoring.

SSH Port Number | Specify the SSH port number of LPARs to be monitored. This port will be common across all LPARs. The default port number is 22. Note: BMC recommends to restart PATROL Agent if the port number is modified. |
User name | Specify the username. |
Authentication | Select the authentication type:

Password Based Authentication | |
Password | If you have selected password-based authentication type, specify the password for authentication. |

LPAR Filter Details | |
Logical Partition to Filter | Enter the names of the logical partitions that you want to include or exclude from monitoring. Input may also be a regular expression pattern. By default all the logical partitions are included for monitoring.

Filter Type | Select Include or Exclude to include or exclude the logical partitions. |
Add to List | To add the configured HMC details to the list of HMC Configuration, click the button. |
Modify Selection | To modify the configured HMC details to the list of HMC Configuration, click the button. |
Remove from List | To remove the configured HMC details from the list of HMC Configuration, click the button. |
Reset | Click this option to clear off your configuration details and revert to default settings. |
Add | Click this option to add this monitoring configuration. This information is displayed on the Monitor Configuration page. After you click this option, you can continue to add more objects for monitoring. |
Close | Click this option to exit without saving any changes. |
