Installing products for intelligent server automation

This topic describes the installation tasks required for the use case.

BMC Server Automation

Install the BMC Server Automation Application Server.

For Microsoft Windows, see Installing the Application Server and Network Shell on Windows.

For UNIX, see Installing BMC Server Automation components.

At least one server must be added to the list of servers managed by this Application Server.

Install the BMC Server Automation Console where you expect to install BMC BladeLogic Integration to Atrium.
For Windows, see  Installing the BMC Server Automation Console and Network Shell (Windows).

For UNIX, see Installing the BMC Server Automation Console (Linux and UNIX)

Note

To run BMC Atrium Explorer, you must also install the Adobe Flash Player application on the console.

BMC BladeLogic Decision Support for Server Automation

Install BMC BladeLogic Decision Support for Server Automation. See PDFs to obtain the following documents:

  • BMC BladeLogic Decision Support for Server Automation Installation Guide for Oracle
  • BMC BladeLogic Decision Support for Server Automation Installation Checklist
  • BMC BladeLogic Decision Support for Server Automation Installation Guide for SQL ServerBMC BladeLogic Decision Support for Server Automation must be using the same type of database (Oracle or Microsoft SQL Server) as BMC Server Automation.

BMC Remedy AR System

Install BMC Remedy AR System. See the BMC Remedy Action Request System Installation Guide.

BMC Atrium Core

Install the following BMC Atrium Core components:

  • BMC Atrium CMDB
  • Integration Engine

    The Integration Engine transfers data from BMC Server Automation to BMC Atrium CMDB.

BMC BladeLogic Atrium Integration

After installing the preceding products, install BMC BladeLogic Atrium Integration. See Installing BMC BladeLogic Atrium Integration

The computer where you are installing BMC BladeLogic Atrium Integration must meet the following requirements:

  • The computer must be running one of the following operating systems:
    • Windows 2003 Server 32-bit or 64-bit, SP2 or later
    • Windows XP, SP 2 or later
  • The computer must have a network connection to BMC Remedy AR System and the BMC BladeLogic Decision Support for Server Automation database.
  • The BMC Server Automation Console, version 8.3, must be installed.
