Third-party software licenses for reuse

This section provides an overview of third-party license use and links to common third-party product licenses used across BMC applications. Review the specific third-party product licenses that accompany the product documentation, as not all licenses may be applicable.

Open-source software licensing

BMC products usually include a number of open-source software versions in their code, sometimes in the hundreds. Customers want to know which open-source products and versions we include. In addition, third-party software could have a security issue, in which case each affected product line must inform customers about the issue and provide them with status updates to let them know how and when the issue is expected to be resolved. To enable customers to determine whether they are affected by such issues, our content must clearly show which third-party, open-source software and versions our products use.

Important

We do not include commercial software license and version information; this information is included in a customer's license agreement. We are required to show only open-source information.

Adding third-party software licenses

Add content to the third party license repository so you can reuse license text to save time. You will not have to format the information in your individual spaces, and your space will benefit from the formatting improvements added at a later date. Editors will also be able to review common license information in this space instead of in multiple product spaces. Before you reuse license information, verify that the title for the license has the same version number as the license shown in the BMC TPS registration system.

Tip

Make sure you approve the topic so it is available to customers and anonymous users.
