Applying the BMC Knowledge Management post-DDM packages


When the source version of BMC Knowledge Management is 8.0 (or earlier) and the target version is 9.0 (or later), fields in the BMC Knowledge Management forms are updated through a workflow triggered by a staging form during the postupgrade portion of the installation.

The following data transformation changes are the results of updated functionality. These changes were made when you upgraded BMC Knowledge Management from version 8.0 (or earlier) to 9.0. To update the fields for the delta data, apply the package to your destination server.

How to verify

In the RKM:KnowledgeArticleManager form, the value of z1D_FlagVGVersion is set to Yes when you create new versions of the article. This value must be reset to NULL (if it is Yes). These data transformation changes are made due to a change in functionality.

A migration package is available to fix this scenario.

To apply the BMC Knowledge Management post-DDM packages

Note

Run the Delta Data Migration Tool to migrate data for all applications, including BMC Knowledge Management. After the migration has completed, install the BMC Knowledge Management post-delta data migration (DDM) bundle.

  1. Open a command window, and navigate to the Utilities\post_DDM\RKM\patches directory.
  2. Run the batch file with the following command-line options:

    setup.bat "<destinationServer>" "<user>" "<password>" <port>
  3. Follow the prompts and wait for the batch file to finish.

  4. Check the logs located in the Utilities\post_DDM\RKM\patches\Logs folder to ensure that the package installed correctly.
    If there are any errors, correct them before re-installing the bundle.
