Deployment decisions worksheet

Review the following information to make decisions about your infrastructure before you install BMC Helix Service Management.

Worksheet

Description

The assessment questionnaire helps you:

  • Understand the container environment and capabilities.
  • Determine the service management products that you want to install.
  • Review and record your existing environment details if you are using a noncontainer BMC Helix Service Management environment.

The requirements checklist helps understand the system requirements such as hardware, software, and network dependencies.

Sizing worksheet

Review the following information to make decisions about sizing the infrastructure:

Sizing factor to calculate

Description

Deployment size

Determine the environment sizing, Compact, Small, Medium, or Large.

Number of concurrent users

Determine the users who will use the service management applications

Total number of CPUs

Determine the number of CPUs required for the Kubernetes cluster to run the application containers.

RAM

Determine the RAM required for the cluster to run the application containers.

Worker nodes

Determine the minimum worker nodes required in the cluster.

Database size

Determine the total database size for the components you want to install.

Learn about the sizing guidelines at Sizing-and-scalability-considerations.

Environment validation by the Helix IS Triage Tool

The Helix IS Triage Tool - HITT helps you validate that your environment is configured correctly and troubleshoot  BMC Helix Service Management installation and postinstallation issues. The Helix IS Triage Tool artifacts are available in the BMC Helix Containerization Group on BMC Community. Alternatively, you can contact BMC Support and log a support case to obtain the tool artifacts.

After you prepare the environment, use the Helix IS Triage Tool to identify any issues that might impact the BMC Helix Service Management installation.
