Updating server references

Some fields on forms refer to the current server host, IP, or domain and must be transformed to the "To Be" server values. The server references are discovered, and then you can apply the mapping.  A standard server reference template includes these values.

You can use BMC Helix Data Manager to discover and update server references in the database. You should perform the discovery and configure the transformation job prior to any time-critical activity such as a Production cutover. After it is initially configured, you can run the transformation job multiple times.

To update server references

  1. Select Discovery & Analysis > System Analysis & Administration from the BMC Helix Data Manager menu.
  2. Select an environment.
  3. Click the Server References tab.
  4. Click Discover Server References.
The standard set of references are scanned, and all values are returned.

  5. After discovery is complete, click the Transform tab, and click Create New Transform Job.
BMC Helix Data Manager lists all discovered references with a Replace Value (the value to find) and a Transform To value (the value to replace it with).
The Transform Value column shows a preview of the data after transformation.

  6. After all the find and replace values are successfully updated, click Run Transform Job to apply the updates.

Following are the locations of the transforms.
