This version of the software is currently available only to customers in the Controlled Availability (CA) program.

System requirements



All components of BMC Helix Data Manager are fully supported on physical or virtual machines. Following are the minimum system requirements for each component:

  • BMC Helix Data Manager Workbench
    • Deployed as a standard web application in an embedded Tomcat instance
    • Requires JDK 8 and supports OpenJDK 17
    • Requires Apache Tomcat server with 4GB of RAM (The Workbench is not CPU intensive.)
    • Requires 64 MB of free disk space
  • BMC Helix Data Manager Repository
    • Although a typical installation dedicated for the BMC Helix Data Manager Repository will rarely exceed 256 MB memory usage, allocate at least 2 GB of disk space to allow for future growth of the BMC Helix Data Manager Repository database.
  • BMC Helix Data Manager Engine
    • Runs with a maximum RAM allocation of 2GB
    • Requires JDK 8 or higher
    • Requires a minimum of 50 MB of free disk space (However, we recommend that at least 2GB of disk space is dedicated to allow for temporary, metadata, and log files.)
    • Requires a locally accessible file system to hold export files (Make sure that at least one volume has sufficient space to hold the export data files.)

Supported operating systems

You can install BMC Helix Data Manager on Microsoft Windows. We recommend Windows Server versions 2016, 2019, or later.

Supported databases

The BMC Helix Data Manager Workbench supports the following databases:

  • Microsoft SQL

    Important

    BMC Helix Data Manager does not support Microsoft SQL database on Linux operating system.

  • Oracle
  • PostgreSQL
  • Sybase (export only)

Supported browsers

The BMC Helix Data Manager Workbench supports the following browsers:

  • Chrome (preferred)
  • Firefox
  • Internet Explorer 10, 11, and Edge
