Creating and naming an export template
You can create multiple export templates for a migration pack to provide multiple options for exporting data without needing to create multiple migration packs.
To create a new export template
- From the navigation bar, select Data Migration > Migration Packs.
- Select a migration pack.
- Click the Export Template tab.
Click the Info sub-tab, and select one of the following buttons:
- Create New Template—Creates a new template and does not carry forward the configuration settings.
- Copy to New Template—Copies the existing template, runtime parameters, and disabled forms.
Select the newly created template and define the following values for the export template:
Option
Description
Name
Name of the template.
Status
Status of the export template. New templates are created with a Status of Draft. Set to a Status of Available so that operators who are running data migrations can use the template.
Description
A description of the template that is shown to the user when creating a new migration job.
Incremental Import
Incremental data migration allows you to move data changes and deletions between two BMC Helix ITSM systems that were previously synchronized. For example, several weeks before go live, you might perform an existing migration to your new upgraded production system and then a final migration of only the changed data over the final cutover weekend. The second migration should be run as an incremental migration.
An incremental import will include only records that are modified after a selected date and time. A date range or qualification parameter filtering data on the Last Modified Date must be applied to all root nodes of the migration tree. Incremental migrations have a beneficial impact on end-to-end migration time.
- Click Save Changes.
To enable, disable, or delete export templates
- To change the status, select the new value from the list, and click Save Changes.
- To delete a template, select it from the list, and click Delete Template.
