Browsing a migration tree
You can browse and search for form mappings in a migration pack.
To browse a migration tree
- From the navigation bar, select Data Migration > Migration Packs.
- Select a migration pack.
- Click the Included Forms or Included Tables tab.
The tree shows all form or table mappings in the migration pack. Select a node to display the details of the selected form or table mapping.
The following details are displayed for a selected node:Field
Description
Source Form or Source Table
The name of the form from which data will be exported.
Target Form or Target Table
The name of the form into which data will be imported.
Path
The path from the root node to the selected node.
Mapped
Designates whether the form is mapped.
(Remedy application types only) Qualification to Parent
The AR System qualification that represents the relationship between the selected source form and its parent form. This relationship originates from the relationship set.
(Remedyforce and relational database application types) Staging Table
After a data export, data is exported to a file. When the data is imported, it is placed in a staging table, and after the import, the table is dropped (except for Remedyforce databases). If a user adds a value in the Staging Table field, the table will not be dropped. If you want to validate your data after an import, add a staging table name. For Remedyforce, the staging table field is already entered.
(BMC Digital Workplace and relational database application types) PrimaryId Transform
The transformation of the ID for the primary field of the table. The migration template initially sets the ID to 10000000, and then the actual ID is automatically set after the data migration is complete.
Where the form mapping is between two forms of the same name, the form name will be displayed. However, where a form mapping is between two forms of a different name, the form mapping will show the source and target form names as illustrated below, showing a mapping between BMC.CORE:BMC_BaseElement and AST:Attributes. (This kind of form mapping creates a record in the target form for each record in the source form by using the specified field mapping.)
To search for forms in the migration tree
- From the navigation bar, select Data Migration > Migration Packs.
- Select a migration pack.
- Click the Included Forms or Included Tables tab.
- Enter the form or table name into the Search bar at the top of the tree display.
The list is filtered to display all forms or tables that match the string you enter.
To browse an export migration tree
To display more details than appear on the Included Forms tab, click the Export Template tab as described in this procedure.
- From the navigation bar, select Data Migration > Migration Packs.
- Select a migration pack.
Click the Export Template tab.
The standard form mapping information is displayed for the selected node.Field
Description
Source Form or Source Table
The name of the form from which data will be exported.
Target Form or Target Table
The name of the form into which data will be imported.
Mapping Filter
Shown only if the form mapping has a qualification that will be used to filter data. The form mapping data filter will be applied at export and import time, which means that you can change a mapping filter after data has been imported so that you exclude some of the exported records. Changing a data filter after the data has been exported will not automatically cascade to child forms, so make sure that you apply import data filters appropriately for the ITSM data structure.
Qualification to Parent
The AR System qualification that represents the relationship between the selected source form and its parent form.
Enabled
Disabled form mappings are excluded from the migration. A form can be individually disabled, or if the data type it contains is excluded from the tree, it is also disabled.
To browse the import migration tree
To display more details than appear on the Included Forms or Included Tables tab, click the Import Template tab as described in this procedure.
- From the navigation bar, select Data Migration > Migration Packs.
