Performing the installation
The installation wizard installs all required components for BMC Helix Data Manager, and optionally the MS SQL JDBC driver and command-line tools necessary to perform migrations for MS SQL databases.
To install BMC Helix Data Manager
- Unzip the Install BMC Helix Data Manager21.xx.zip package and run InstallHDM21.xx.exe to display the install wizard.
- Click Next.
- Review and accept the terms of the BMC Helix Data Manager License Agreement. Click Next to proceed.
- Accept or define the installation path. Click Next to proceed.
- Select the type of installation you want to perform:
- Full Installation – Repository, Engine & Workbench
- Workbench only
- Repository only
- Engine only
- Keep the value for the HDM Repository Password field as blank and click Next.
- Accept or enter a name for the BMC Helix Data Manager Workbench shortcut that the installation creates. Click Next to proceed.
- Review the installation configuration, and click Install to start the install process.
- Prepare the ODBC Driver installation. Accept all default options. If an installation already exists, select Modify the install.
- Click Install to proceed.
- Prepare the Microsoft Command Line Utilities installation. Accept all default options. If an installation already exists, select Repair the install.
- Click Install to proceed.
- Review and accept the Microsoft Visual C++ redistributable license agreement. Click Install to proceed.
Click Close to complete the Microsoft Visual C++ redistributable installation and the overall BMC Helix Data Manager installation.
BMC Helix Data Manager automatically creates three Windows Services that are configured with automatic startup:- BMC Helix Data Manager Engine
- BMC Helix Data Manager Repository
- BMC Helix Data Manager Workbench
- To validate your installation, open the BMC Helix Data Manager desktop shortcut.
- Log in with the default user name and password:
- User name: hdm
- Password: DataM@nag3r
- Apply the license.
