Running and reviewing migration jobs

A migration job tracks the overall progress of moving data between two BMC Helix ITSM systems. The migration job has two key stages:

  • Exporting the data from the source system
  • Importing the data into the target systems

An export job and an import job track these activities. A migration job has one export job associated with it, but you might create multiple import jobs. This allows you to import the data into more than one system, for example when migrating a customer to a hub and spoke environment or attempting to import multiple times in the event of a failure.

An export job will create a data package containing the data that was exported. the import job will import the data package.
