Data flow in flashboards

Use Developer Studio to create, modify, and delete flashboards. The AR System server processes the information from the flashboard and its variables and returns the information about the new or modified flashboard to Developer Studio. Then, Developer Studio retrieves the flashboard from the mid tier. 

Runtime behavior of data flow

Mid Tier is used to display graphical information from flashboards into a browser. The Mid Tier passes access permission information to the AR System server, holds requested Flashboards information in a cache, and translates the information so that the display client can view it.

When a display client requests a Flashboards image, the Mid Tier checks whether the information is in the Mid Tier cache and if the cache has not expired. If so, the Mid Tier renders a flashboard and sends it to the display client.

If the information is not in the cache or the cache has expired, the Mid Tier requests the information from the AR System server, updates the cache, renders a flashboard, and sends it to the display client.

Data flow when retrieving historical or summary data

You can use BMC Remedy Flashboards to retrieve historical data and summary data from the BMC Remedy AR System. 

The Flashboards server is used to collect historical data. Flashboards are started automatically on UNIX and Windows. To stop the Flashboard server on UNIX or WIndows, see Stopping the Flashboards server.

To create historical or summary data

1. As determined by the collection interval, the Flashboards server retrieves statistics on the form data from the AR System server.
2. The Flashboards server returns statistical data to the AR System server and data is added to the FB:History form.
3. As determined by the collection interval, the Flashboards server retrieves data from the FB:History form through the AR System server.
4. The Flashboards server summarizes the historical data.
5. The Flashboards server adds the data to the FB:History Summary form through the AR System server.
6. The historical data is presented in the Flashboard.
