Specifying a DSO host name

In distributed mappings, DSO uses the default server name for the From Server Name field unless you specify a DSO host name (DSO-Host-Name) in the AR System Configuration Generic UI form.

Note

The default server name is specified in the Server-Name entry in the BMC Remedy AR System server configuration file.

Thus, if necessary, you can configure BMC Remedy AR System to use a fully qualified domain name (FQDN) or "long name" for distributed operations. DSO automatically puts the DSO-Host-Name value in the From Server field whenever that field is on a form involved in a distributed operation.

Warning

The From Server Name field on distributed mappings is limited to 64 characters. If the server name exceeds that limit, it is truncated, and the distributed operation fails. This is most likely to occur when you select the Allow Any Server in Server Group option in a distributed mapping (see Allow Any Server in Server Group). In that case, the From Server Name field must contain the server name alias, which is specified in the Server-Name option of the BMC Remedy AR System server configuration file.

To specify a DSO host name

  1. Stop the BMC Remedy Action Request System Server serverName service.
  2. On the AR System Configuration Generic UI form, enter the host name in the following format:
    DSO-Host-Name:<hostName>.<domainName>
In this format, hostName is the short name of the From server, such as sanfrancisco, and domainName is the domain name of the From server, such as acme.com.
    See Updating-configuration-settings-by-using-the-AR-System-Configuration-Generic-UI-form.
  3. Save the configuration form.
  4. Restart the BMC Remedy Action Request System Server serverName service.

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
