Configuring remote AR System servers for DSO
To enable the local DSO server to communicate with remote BMC Remedy AR System servers, perform the following steps:
- On the remote BMC Remedy AR System server, perform these tasks:
- Add a DSO license. See Enabling DSO on a BMC Remedy AR System server.
- Specify a local DSO password. See Configuring a password for the DSO user.
- (Optional) Specify an RPC program number for DSO. See Assigning an RPC program number to DSO.
- On the local BMC Remedy AR System server, open the AR System Administration: Server Information form.
- Click the Connection Settings tab.
- In the Connection Settings tab, open the DSO Server tab.
- Enter the following information in the tables on the tab by clicking the appropriate table cell:
- Server Name — The name of the remote BMC Remedy AR System server
If you enter data in both tables, you must enter the server name in both tables. - RPC Program Number — The RPC program number dedicated to DSO on the remote BMC Remedy AR System server, if any. If this field is blank, a value of 0 is entered, and the local DSO server communicates with the remote BMC Remedy AR System server through the fast and list queues.
See Assigning an RPC program number to DSO. - Port — If the remote BMC Remedy AR System server is running behind a firewall, that server's TCP/IP port number. If this field is blank, a value of 0 is entered, and the system uses a portmapper on the remote BMC Remedy AR System server to locate the appropriate port number.
See Assigning TCP port numbers to AR System servers. Password — The remote BMC Remedy AR System server's local DSO password.

- Server Name — The name of the remote BMC Remedy AR System server
- Click OK.
- Restart the local BMC Remedy AR System server to make these settings take effect.
- Repeat this procedure for each remote BMC Remedy AR System server that the local DSO server must communicate with.
