Mapping the user to a Twitter account

This topic provides instructions for mapping the user to a Twitter account.

Follow the steps in this section only if you have not installed BMC Remedy ITSM. If you have installed BMC Remedy ITSM, follow the steps in the Configuring the Twitter integration section.

To map the user to a Twitter account

1. Log on to BMC Remedy AR System as an administrator and open the AR System Alert Twitter User Authorization display-only form.

2. In the User Name field, select the user for mapping to a Twitter account.

   Field name	Description
   User Name	The menu lists the users from the BMC Remedy User form. Note If the user information is on an LDAP directory, the user name can be entered manually.
   Access Key	This is a read-only field. The value is automatically displayed when you enter a pin number in the PIN field.
   Access Token Secret	This is a read-only field. The value is automatically displayed when you enter a pin number in the PIN field.
   PIN	This field is activated only if the user is not already mapped to an existing Twitter account.

3. If the user has not been mapped to a Twitter account, the Twitter page opens:

   If the AR Server system clock is not synchronized with your time zone, Twitter displays the following error message:
   Error in plugin : 401:Authentication credentials (http://dev.twitter.com/pages/auth) were missing or incorrect. Ensure that you have set valid conumer key/secret, access token/secret, and the system clock in in sync. Failed to validate oauth signature and token Relevant d (ARERR 8753)
    Synchronize the system clock with your time zone, and click Apply.

   1. Enter the Twitter user name and password.
   2. Click OK.

4. Enter the authorization PIN number displayed on the web page in the PIN field.
   
   

   Note

   If the user is already mapped to a Twitter account, the PIN field remains deactivated. No further action is required.

   With Twitter4j API, the user gets only one chance to enter correct PIN in the first attempt. If the user enters the wrong PIN in the first attempt, that PIN expires and the user has to generate a new PIN.    The values for the Access Key and Access Token Secret fields are automatically displayed.

5. Click Apply.

An entry is created in the AR System Alert User Registration form. For more information about this form, see Registering-users-for-alerts. The mapping is now complete.
