Enable chat feature for AR system users


Important

You cannot use Openfire Chat if your browser does not support Adobe Flash. We recommend using Smart IT Openfire Chat for agent-to-agent communication.


To enable chat feature for AR system users:

  1. On Mid-Tier Home Page, click Application > Administration Console > Application Administration Console > Custom Configuration tab.  
  2. On the Custom Configuration tab, click Foundation > Advance Options > System Configuration Settings > System Settings form.

  3. Select the Yes check box for Enable Chat field to enable the chat feature for AR system users.
  4. Click Save to save the settings.
  5. Log off from Mid-Tier and restart it. This is required for Mid-Tier to reflect the above changes.

    Note

    The changes are best viewed in Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox browser.

  6. The following Chat information is displayed on the BMC Remedy ITSM landing console:

    Chat icon — Displays the status of the user. For example, Online (green), Busy (red), Away (yellow), or Offline (white). This Chat icon also has animation to display notifications.

    Drop-down icon — Opens a drop-down menu that can be used to perform the following actions:
