Running the Foundation data bulk load process

After you upload the updated spreadsheets to BMC Helix Platform, you can run the data load job to process and load the Foundation data from the spreadsheets to BMC Helix Platform.

The following image shows the process of loading the Foundation data in bulk:

To run the data load process

1. Log in to BMC Helix Innovation Studio and navigate to the Workspace tab.
2. Click the Data Management Console application. 
   The details for the Data Management Console application are displayed.
3. Click Visit Deployed Application.The application details are displayed. 

4. Click Data Load.A list of template spreadsheets and their data process status is displayed as shown in the following image:

   

5. Select the file that you want to process and click the Run Process icon () to trigger the data load process. 

   You can select multiple files for processing at one time; each file is considered a separate job and is processed individually. However, the data load operation is memory intensive and any uploads that run longer than an hour are not processed. Therefore, you must upload the Foundation data in smaller batches and run the data jobs for each spreadsheet.

After the process is completed, the status of the process is displayed for each spreadsheet. You can then perform any of the following tasks:

• View the status of the load process and resolve the issues, if any.
• Archive the spreadsheet for long-term retention.

To view the status of the load process

You can view the processing status of every file in any of the following ways:

• On the Data Load page
• In the processed spreadsheet

To view the status on the Data Load page

1. Log in to BMC Helix Innovation Studio and navigate to the Workspace tab.
2. Click the Data Management Console application. 
   The details for Data Management Console application are displayed.
3. Click Visit Deployed Application.A visual representation of the application after it is deployed in BMC Helix Innovation Studio is displayed.
4. Click Data Load.A list of template spreadsheets and their data process status is displayed.
5. View the processing status beside the file that you processed.

The following table provides information about the processing status:

To view the status in processed spreadsheet

1. Log in to BMC Helix Innovation Studio and navigate to the Workspace tab.
2. Click the Data Management Console application. 
   The details for Data Management Console application are displayed.
3. Click Visit Deployed Application.A visual representation of the application after it is deployed in BMC Helix Innovation Studio is displayed.
4. Click Data Load.A list of template spreadsheets and their data process status is displayed.
5. From the Data Load Result column, click the Download File icon () beside the processed spreadsheet that you want to view.

The spreadsheet is downloaded to the default download location of your web browser. The Data Load Result column contains the status spreadsheet that is automatically created for every load process.

The following table provides information about the statuses available in the processed spreadsheet:

To archive the spreadsheets

1. Log in to BMC Helix Innovation Studio and navigate to the Workspace tab. 
2. Click the Data Management Console application. 
   The details for Data Management Console application are displayed.
3. Click Visit Deployed Application.A visual representation of the application after it is deployed in BMC Helix Innovation Studio is displayed.
4. Click Data Load.A list of template spreadsheets and their data process status is displayed.
5. Click the Archive icon () beside the file that you want to archive.

The file is archived and will no longer appear in the list of files on the Data Load page. To view all the archived files, select the Show Archived check box.
