Recap of Module 1

Congratulations! You have achieved creating out a modern, Enterprise-ready application without writing a line of code. To do a quick review of all the techniques you have mastered:

  • You have built on your familiarity with defining records, views, processes, and rules
  • You learned about role-based permissions and setting up the access control model for your application
  • Powerful view-building techniques including:
    • Container-based multi-column layouts
    • Rich text
    • Record grids and editors, working with data from both records and their associations
    • Contextual action buttons
    • Invoking a synchronous process directly from a button in a view
  • Key process flow techniques, including:
    • How to build a record lifecycle
    • Sending messages to users
    • Conditional flow with exclusive gateways
    • Looping over sets of data
    • Implementing a time-out on a wait state
    • Modularizing your processes with Call Activity
    • Handling exceptions using Error End and Error Boundary

This may be a great time to "skip ahead" in the process to create an Install Package of your solution, purely as a backup. This is more fully described in Module 3.

There's plenty more to learn about BMC Helix Innovation Studio. The next stop is to explore extending your application's behavior using powerful Java and JavaScript techniques.
