Running a stand-alone AR System server on Windows


To avoid long pauses caused by the Windows networking software when AR System communicates with the network, you can configure a device, to run as a stand-alone server. On Windows, you can run a stand-alone AR System server on a device such as a laptop computer that is disconnected from the network.

To run a stand-alone AR System server

  1. Open the C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts file or the drive on which Windows server is installed.
  2. Enter the following alias entry:
    <IPAddress> <localHostName>.<domainName> <localHostName>

  3. Save the file.
  4. Shut down and restart the system.
