Troubleshooting Publish Report plug-in issues


Use the Publish Report plug-in when you publish a Business Intelligence Reporting Tool (BIRT) report. The plug-in is executed when you manually publish the report or when using a job scheduler.

Plug-in type

Publish Report is a Java-based Filter API plug-in.

AR System server connectivity

AR System server interacts with the Publish Report plug-in by using the AR System Java API. This plug-in requires BIRT Runtime, which is installed during the AR System server installation in the <ARInstallationFolder>\pluginsvr\birtruntime folder.

The plug-in arreportVerNum.jar and arreportingapiVerNum.jar ( — VerNum represents the release version number) are installed in the <ARInstallationFolder>\pluginsvr folder.

Configuration information

The configuration information of the Publish Report plug-in is available in the AR System Administration: Plugin Server Configuration form.

The AR System Administration: AR System Configuration Generic UI form includes the Server-Plugin-Alias parameter setting that points to the correct plug-in server alias.
Server-Plugin-Alias: ARSYS.ARF.PUBLISHREPORT ARSYS.ARF.PUBLISHREPORT myServer:9999

To troubleshoot Publish Report plug-in issues

  1. Verify the Publish Report plug-in configuration.
  2. Troubleshoot common plug-in-related issues.

  3. To further investigate the issue, enable the following logs:
    • Server-side logs. For more information, see Enabling-server-side-AR-System-logs.
    • Plug-in specific logs. For more information, see To enable logs for the Publish Report plug-in.

To enable logs for the Publish Report plug-in

  1. In a browser, open the AR System Administration Console, and select System > General > Plugin Server Configuration.
  2. On the Plugin Server Configuration form, from the Plugin Server Instance list, select the instance for which you want to enable logs.
  3. Go to the Plugin Server Configuration tab.
  4. In the Logging Configurations area, from the Log Level list, select DEBUG.
  5. Click Apply
    The arjavaplugin.log file generates the debug logs for the Publish Report plug-in.
