Overriding the predefined search style

Use relational operators and wildcard symbols within the character fields to override the default search style. For information about relational operator and wildcard symbols, see Relational-operators-and-wildcard-symbols.

To override the predefined search style

  1. In a character field, enter the exact search term.
  2. Add a relational operator or wildcard symbol.
For example, use an equal sign = to search for an exact match even if the field has a search style of Anywhere. If you enter =Bob Jones in the Created By field of a form, the search displays requests only created by Bob Jones. The search will not display requests created by other similar names such as Bob Joneson.
  3. Use the advanced search bar to override the search style in a field.
For example, to override the Created By field in the previous example with a Leading search, specify the following criteria in the advanced search bar: 'Created By' LIKE "Bob Jones%"

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
