Twitter User Registration plug-in configuration

The Twitter User Registration plug-in provides a way to authorize a Twitter account and register a mapping between AR System user and Twitter user accounts.

AR System permits you to send an alert notification to a valid Twitter account that is registered with a given AR Systemuser. A filter with Notify action can send the given text as a tweet to the specified user only if the AR Systemuser is authenticated in Twitter and is registered with an Access Key and Token Secret that Twitter generates. This plug-in helps create the registration by means of a form similar to AR System Alert Twitter User Authorization form. Use this form to perform the following actions:

  • Select an AR Systemuser to register — A browser asks you to provide valid Twitter credentials. After authenticating the user, Twitter generates a unique PIN.
  • Enter the generated PIN and save this user to generate a unique Access Key and Token Secret. This entry is stored on the AR System Alert User Registration form.

Twitter User Registration is a Java-based Filter API plug-in.

AR System serverconnectivity

The AR System server interacts with the Twitter User Registration plug-in when either of the following events occurs:

  • An AR System user is selected to be registered with Twitter.
  • The user supplies a valid PIN and clicks Apply on the AR Alert Twitter User Authorization form.

The Twitter user registration plug-in (aralerttwitterVerNum.jar — VerNum represents the version number of the release) is installed in the ARInstallationFolder\pluginsvr folder.

The AR System Administration: AR System Configuration Generic UI form includes the Server-Plugin-Alias setting, which points to the correct plug-in server alias:
Server-Plugin-Alias: ARSYS.ARF.TWITTER ARSYS.ARF.TWITTER HOST:9999
