Helix Service Management Suite licensing model
The Helix Service Management Suite licensing model includes licenses for BMC Helix Innovation Suite, AR System server-based applications, BMC Helix Innovation Studio-based applications, BMC Helix ITSM, and all Service Management applications. The Helix Service Management Suite licensing model includes two suite licenses: Standard and Advanced. Each of these suite licenses is further divided into the following four licenses:
- BMC Helix Service Management Standard - Named User
- BMC Helix Service Management Standard - Concurrent User
- BMC Helix Service Management Advanced - Named User
- BMC Helix Service Management Advanced - Concurrent User
For more information, see Standard license entitlements, restrictions, and units of measurement.
As an administrator, you can choose to adopt the Helix Service Management Suite licensing model. To opt for this model, contact BMC SaaS Operations.
BMC SaaS Operations uses the Optin utility to convert your existing classic licenses to a simplified Helix Service Management Suite licensing model. After running the utility, BMC SaaS Operations provides a report to the administrator. The .xls report provides details of users who are impacted by the conversion. The report includes details such as the login ID, full name, email ID, current user license, and recommended license. The report also includes the functional role for BMC Helix Business Workflows, BMC Helix Digital Workplace Catalog, and BMC Helix Multi-Cloud Broker.
As an administrator, you can review this report to determine which user's license needs to be converted.
How licensing affects access control
In addition to obtaining a license to run the BMC Helix Innovation Suite and other components, you must specify a license type for each user. BMC Helix Innovation Suite includes a setting that enables you to permit users who are not recognized users to access BMC Helix Innovation Suite applications as a member of the Public Group. For more information, see User-and-group-access-overview.
Although licensing is not a component of access control, licensing can affect a user's ability to perform an operation that you grant the user permission to perform. For example, if a user is a member of a group that has Change permission to a field but you did not give the appropriate write license, the user cannot change the field.
