Setting the default author email address

As an administrator, you can define the default author email address to be used in articles imported from your BMC application to BMC Helix Knowledge Management by ComAround.

Best practice
We recommend that you always set the default author email address when you import knowledge articles to BMC Helix Knowledge Management by ComAround because some articles in your BMC application might not include the email address of an article author. If some knowledge articles do not have the author email address defined in your BMC application, and you do not set the default email to be used in BMC Helix Knowledge Management by ComAround, you get a warning during the import process, and the author email address is set to unknown@bmc.com.

Before you begin

Make sure you have completed the following steps:

To set the default author email address

Log in to BMC Helix Innovation Studio.
On the Workspace tab, select Knowledge Sync > Records.
On the Records tab, select Migration Config Common Settings Properties and click Edit data.
On the Data Editor (Migration Config Common Settings Properties) page, click New.
On the New Record page, specify the following required fields:
- Created by—Enter the name of the user who created this mapping. The default value is the BMC Helix Innovation Studio user name.
- Description—Enter the record description.
- Status—Select the status of the record.
- Assignee—Enter the assignee name.
- PropertyName—Enter AuthorEmailAddress.
- PropertyValue—Enter the default author email address to be used in BMC Helix Knowledge Management by ComAround.
- Source—Select a source BMC application for which you want to use the default email address for imported knowledge articles:
  - BWF—If you want to set the default author email address for articles imported from BMC Helix Business Workflows Knowledge Management.
  - RKM—If you want to set the default author email address for articles imported from BMC Helix ITSM: Knowledge Management.
  - ALL—If you want to set the default author email address for articles imported from all source BMC applications.
Click Save.
