Creating notifications


You can use the Approval Server to send email notifications and escalations that alert requesters and approvers when action is required on an approval request. In addition to using email as a notification method, you can send notifications by using a workflow. This is referred to as "workflow-based notifications." For example, you can add notifications to alert requesters and approvers in the following situations:

  • When a request is waiting for an approver response, including escalations for requests that have been pending for a specified time
  • When an approver responds with an approval or rejection
  • When a More Information request is pending
  • When an error occurs
  • When an approver puts a request on hold
  • When an approver or the process administrator overrides a normal approval cycle

To create an approval notification, perform the procedures in the order listed in the following table:
