Adding approvals to an application
When you design an approval application, consider the process and rule types that are included with the approval server. Identify which process types are most appropriate for use in your application, and which rule types will best implement the decisions and transitions in your approval process. Also, identify where you will need to add AR System server workflow to implement approval functionality, such as adding an active link to a button on your approval request form or adding filters to start the approval process, or chaining approval processes together. Also, identify which stages and statuses in the approval process should trigger notifications or escalations.
This section describes how AR System server administrators connect an AR System application to Remedy Approval Server (approval server). This discussion assumes you have an existing application with an approval request form, and have installed the approval server.
Although you do not need to be an AR System server administrator to set up and manage approval processes, an AR System server administrator must carry out most of the tasks described in the following table:
Action | Reference |
---|---|
Integrate Approval Server with an application | |
Create processes, rules, and filters for your approval process | |
Create a chained process for your approval workflow | |
Create approval notifications that the Approval Servercan use to send emails and alerts to requesters and approvers | |
Add additional fields to approval forms to enhance the integration of the forms with your application | |
Add a preview to your approval application to allow users to view the list of approvers for a request | |
Learn to use the multi-process preview feature to view a list of all the approvers whose signatures are required to complete the process | |
Use the custom ad hoc approver dialog box to add an ad hoc approver from a form other than the AP:AdhocDialog form | |
