Viewing flashboards
If your administrator has configured the Mid Tier and AR System for Flashboards, you can view flashboards on forms that contain a Data Visualization field in a web browser.
To view unicode characters in a flashboards field in the Mid Tier, you must have the appropriate language packages installed on the system on which the Mid Tier is running.
Refreshing flashboards
- The user can refresh a flashboard by closing and re-opening the form that contains the flashboard.
- An administrator, can create a Refresh button that activates a Set Fields active link, which in turn resets the flashboards field.
- You can create a Set Fields active link to run at specified intervals to refresh a Flashboards.
Tooltips
When you hover the mouse over a flashboard, it shows the corresponding values for that Flashboards. Tooltips are automatic and available on all types of charts. The following image shows a Flashboards with a tooltip:
Modifying the Flashboards view
If a Flashboards includes a graph, such as a bar chart or a pie chart, you can change the look of the flashboard by using the following controls:
Button or field | Description |
Opens the Options panel where you can make changes as described in Changing labels or variables. | |
Opens the flashboard to a full-screen view. In a browser, press ESC to exit the full-screen window. | |
Returns the flashboard to the original view. | |
Opens the toolbar that displays the Zoom buttons, the Show Legend check box, and the chart selection menu. | |
Closes the toolbar that displays the Zoom buttons, the Show Legend check box, and the chart selection menu. | |
Show Legend | Displays a legend for the flashboard. |
Zooms in on specific parts of the flashboard. Click the button, and move the cursor to the flashboard. Then, click and drag the area you want to zoom in on. | |
Zooms out to display more of the flashboard. | |
Changes the flashboard to another type of chart. Choose from the following options:

Changing labels or variables
- Click the properties ( ) button.
- Edit the following options:
- Title—Title that appears in the tab above the set of flashboards.
- X Axis Label
- Y Axis Label
- Active Variables— Add or remove variables from the flashboard.
Drilling down to more information in a flashboard
You can view more information about a chart in a flashboard by using the following methods:
- To view statistics for a grouping, hover over the grouping.
- To view a tooltip to view more statistical information, click a grouping such as the x and y values.
- To view the information about line, area, and stacked area charts, hover over or click the end point of the group.
