Searching for wildcard symbols in form records


If a wildcard is used as part of textual information in the forms, you can specifically search for those instances by using a specific search qualification.

In such scenarios, you want the system to interpret these wildcard symbols as explicit characters, and not as an operator. For example, you might want to search for all instances of the percent sign that is part of the text in the form.

To search for wildcard symbols in forms

  1. To search for the percent sign %, underscore _ , or open bracket [ as an explicit character, enclose the character in square brackets.
    For example, enter the percent sign in square brackets [%].
  2. Click Search.
    The system searches for form entries that have the percent sign.

The close bracket ] functions as a wildcard only when it is accompanied by an open bracket [. The hyphen  functions as a wildcard character only when preceded by an open bracket [ or an open bracket with a caret [^.
