Viewing requests for which you are an alternate approver

If you are acting as an alternate approver, you have the same signature authority as the approver for whom you are approving. Your authority as an alternate approver exists for a specific time period and for the designated approval processes.

By default, Approval Central displays requests assigned to other approvers for whom you are designated as an alternate approver. You can identify such requests by looking at the Acting As column in the Approval Requests table. The requests for which there is no value in the Acting As column are directly assigned to you.

Approval Central displays only a predefined number of requests at a time. To view all requests on which you can act as an alternate approver, perform a search as described in the following procedure.

To view all requests for which you are an alternate approver

  1. Open Approval Central by using one of the methods described in Approval-Central.
  2. In the Actions section, click Search My Approvals.
  3. In the Approval Search section, select Alternate from the Acting As list.
  4. In the User field, type the AR System user name of the person for whom you are acting as the alternate.
  5. From the Application list, select the appropriate application if necessary.
  6. From the Process list, select the appropriate process if necessary.
  7. Verify that the Status field is set to Pending.
  8. Click Search.
The resulting requests are those on which you can act as an alternate approver, not those that are directly assigned to you.

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
