Viewing and downloading process logs for a BMC Helix Innovation Studio application


BMC Helix Innovation Studio provides logging capabilities that help you track and resolve the issues for process instances. As a developer or an application business analyst, you can gather information to troubleshoot functional issues or errors that occur in a process instance and log them in a log file.

To enable process logs

  1. Log in to Mid Tier. 
  2. On the IT Home page, select Applications > AR System Management Console > AR System Server Group Console
  3. On the AR System Management Console page, select Logs > Logs Management.
  4. On the Log Management page, for the Apply To field, select the All Servers option.
  5. To enable process logs, select the Process Log check box, and switch the Apply Setting toggle key to green.

  6. To capture the process instance logs in the database and to view or download the logs, select Enable Trace
  7. Click Define Filter and select all the process definitions for which you want to enable the log.

  8. Click Apply.

To view and download logs for process definitions

  1. Log in to BMC Helix Innovation Studio and navigate to the Workspace tab.
  2. Click the required application or library.
  3. Click the Processes tab.
  4. In the Process menu bar, click Manage Processes.
  5. From the Processes list, select the process for which you want to view or download the logs, click Run. Provide the necessary details required to run the process.  
    • To view the logs, select the time frame and the process instances, and click View log

      Important

      • If there are more than 2000 entries in the log file, the following message is displayed:
        The log file is too large for convenient viewing in a simple dialog window. Please download the log file for viewing in your preferred editor.
        You can click Download log to view the process logs.
      • If you try to view or download the log for the process instances that are not added in the Log Management console, the log content for the process instances might be empty.
    • To download the log file, select the time frame and the process instance, and click Download log

      The process.log file is downloaded at the default location or the location specified by you.
